Super Kitchen Singles (SKS) is a new no-nonsense label series delivering banging one-track releases to keep underground dancefloors and club-mixes moving. The ethos fits somewhere between the old and the new: taking up the longstanding dance label approach of reliably firing out a series of unfussy functional club tools, with just track-titles and artist names to go on, but with higher quality mastering and more careful curation than the digital era’s free download free-for-alls that quickly get lost in the ethernet.
‘Siren Spell’ lets the SKS project off the leash – a hard and direct debut from artist and astrologer Manuka Honey, in collaboration with Super Kitchen mainstay Nara. The track is full of sweetly hellish combinations: laying a faintly unhuman Bollywood-esque vocal chant over a blistering build-up, before dropping into a fierce gabber kick with baile-funk samples sent into overdrive. It’s a powerful statement of intent for the inauguration of the series.
The metal’s band revelatory new record crosses genres and styles, effortlessly combining seemingly incompatible subgenres. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2024
Literally sickening record and wonderful message and cause and cant wait for more collaborative projects like this, worth whatever dollar you have.
